SPECIFIC TREATMENTS FOR THE MEDICAL INDUSTRY

For the past 25 years, the DBP-MAYET group has been specialising in surface treatments of stainless steels and noble metals.

Our organisation is adapted to the specific nature of surface treatments and enables us to respond to the most demanding enquiries in terms of delivery and quality.
We manufacture the installations, we make the products, we deploy and validate the processes.

  • 2 treatment sites :                                             nos compétences :

    • Saint-Priest (69) and Le Barp (33).
    • 2 treatment lines dedicated to stainless steel
    • 2 electrochemical treatment lines for titanium
    • Teams that have been trained and specialised in these types of treatment
    • Specific premises for treating products for the medical industry
    • Laser marking option after treatment
    • ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 quality systems
    • Technicians placed at your disposal for enhanced reactivity and control over product quality.
    • Analysis, design, development and integration of treatment lines for all applications put forward.
    • Training and accreditation of operating personnel.

    Stainless steel for medical applications

Inox MedicalStainless steel electro-polishing is an electrochemical process during which the metal in the surface layer of a component is dissolved (the reverse of galvanisation or chromium plating where metal is deposited onto the surface of the component).

Changing polishing settings (voltage and current), the composition of the electrolyte, the immersion time and the treatment temperature can provide very different results with regard to the material removed :

    • The stainless steel shine
    • Improvement of roughness coefficient Ra
    • Micro deburring by dissolving metal
The settings will change depending on the stainless steel grades concerned (austenitic or martensitic stainless steels)

For optimum results, surface preparation is a determining factor. Electro-polishing will not reduce initial roughness to zero; once the relief has been reduced, the treatment takes place evenly, regardless of the thickness removed (a preliminary mechanical polishing step is sometimes necessary).

Electro-polishing affects the crystallographic structure of the surface, providing it with greater evenness than mechanical polishing, thus producing enhanced resistance to corrosion and fatigue (wear).

    The different treatment options:

    • Treatments applied to austenitic or martensitic stainless steel products for the medical industry (implants and others)
    • Immersion pickling with dimensional control
    • Mechanical polishing
    • Electrolytic polishing
    • Micro deburring
    • Stainless steel passivation
    • Quality control to ISO 13485
    • Laser marking (following client specification)

    TITANIUM

Titane MedicalTitanium anodisation is an electrochemical process that is widely used by manufacturers of medical prostheses that may or may not be implants and also of surgical instruments.
Titanium is a metal that reacts strongly to electrical and chemical action when immersed in electrolyte.

By controlling the electrochemical settings, we can create an extremely thin layer of oxide (500 to 1000 Angstroms) and produce colour without the use of colouring or pigments.
The anodised titanium components are hypoallergenic and biocompatible (essential in the case of implants).

We have a very wide range of colours that we can reproduce infinitely by adhering to strict parameters derived from technical specifications produced jointly with our clients.

    The different treatment options:

    • The treatment of titanium products for the medical industry (implants and other) :
    • Immersion pickling with dimensional control
    • Titanium anodisation (choice of colours)
    • Titanium polished using electrolysis
    • Titanium passivation
    • Quality control to ISO 13485
    • Laser marking (following client specification)
